The High Line Porch

Check out "The Porch" on the High Line park, which opened today where the elevated railroad park intersects Chelsea Market at around 15th Street. The Porch is a small 40 seat cafe, serving farm fresh and locally sourced light food, snacks, beer and wine. The food food and drinks are prepared by The Green Table restaurant, which is inside Chelsea Market. The Porch will be open from 12 - 10pm daily. More pics from Eater here.

Bond No. 9 Opens in the MPD!

This past weekend, Bond No. 9 opened their 5th Manhattan store, called the High Line Shop in honor of their High Line fragrance. The boutique sells all 43 Bond No. 9 perfumes, including mens, womens, and unisex scents. Also on sale are candles, soaps, body potions and more- all on display in this great little mirror laden store.

Summer Party on the High Line

On Tuesday, June 28, 2011, Friends of the High Line will hold its first Summer Party on the High Line, Presented by Coach Men's Collection.
Join the Friends of the High Line for sunset drinks on the Diller - von Furstenberg Sundeck, bites at twilight, and dancing into the night, featuring DJ Jesse Marco. The Summer Party will also include limited-edition gifts courtesy of Coach Men's Collection.

Make Music NY June 21st

Yesterday, "Make Music NY" sponsored over 100 different pop-up musical performances throughout NYC, all day long. From pianos left of the street for anyone to play, to two quintets of instruments playing from the outdoor balconies of the NY Stock Exchange, the city was fully of music. In the Meatpacking District, conductor Kent Tritle led over 100 people along with soloists in a chorus in Gansevoort Plaza for an hour. Check out details from the NY Post here.

The Dream Downtown

Major congratulations to the Dream Downtown Hotel on their soft opening this past Wednesday. The hotel, whose entrance is located on 16th Street off of 9th Avenue, kicked off its soft opening period with a series of high profile private events, showcasing its bars, pool and lobby. The Dream Downtown is made up to two towers of rooms, one on 16th Street and one on 17th Street, with a partially glass bottomed pool in the courtyard between the towers, sitting above the lobby. The hotel has also opened with a top floor lounge and roof deck, offering stunning views and a prime vantage point of Empire State Building. Make Music NY 2011

Make Music NY, the annual day-long celebration of music throughout NYC is happening this year on Tuesday, June 21st.
Come check out "Mass Appeal Mass" where acclaimed conductor Kent Tritle will lead a chorus to perform Mozart's Coronation Mass and selections from Handel's Messiah in the middle of Gansevoort Plaza, located at Gansevoort Street and 9th Avenue. The Chorus will sing from 6:30 - 7:30pm, and anyone is invited to come and sing along. Kheil's Opens in the MPD

Kheil's opened it's new shop in the Meatpacking District last Friday, located at 400 West 14th Street, right off of 9th Avenue. The small store features Kheil's full line of moisturizers, shampoos, face washes and more for men and women, as well as a communal table to sit and test them out. High Line Section 2 Now Open!

Congratulations to Friends of the High Line, who opened the second section of the elevated High Line park yesterday, June 7th. The ribbon cutting ceremony included Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Speaker Christine Quinn, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, Congressman Jerrold Nadler, the Meatpacking District's Diane von Furstenberg and High Line co-founders Joshua David and Robert Hammond. The High Line park now stretches from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to 30th Street in the Hudson Yards area.
The second section of the High Line park adds 4 access points, on-site artwork, new lookout points, seating areas, the "great lawn", new food vendors, and more. Additionally, at the end of the High Line is the "Rainbow City" art installation presented by AOl, which was featured last December at Miami Art Basel. Additionally, down the steps from the High Line on 30th Street is the new parking lot beer garden from Tom Colicchio, called "The Lot on Tap", set to open today June 8th and close on September 30th.
