STAYCATION IN MEATPACKING

BY Meatpacking BIDPUBLISHED 02.18.2021

If you’re needing a mini-getaway right now, Meatpacking is the place for you. With public art, plenty of outdoor dining space, and world-class cultural institutions take a break from your current everyday norm with a staycation in the district. Here are a few ideas on how to enjoy your stay.

The Gansevoort
Get reacquainted with The Gansevoort Hotel which recently underwent a full top to bottom property renovation. The Gansevoort is iconic Meatpacking, and their new rooms go above and beyond with the best of technology, wellness, and design. Make a night of it and see for yourself!

Start with Zen – Work out privately with the in-room fitness partner, Mirror Workout Companion, or book an in-room spa service, in partnership with Zeel.

Enjoy perks – This pet-friendly hotel comes with quite a few perks, including 20% off using code THEGHG20 on tickets to Artechouse, a digital art space in Chelsea Market, plus two complimentary cocktails at the in-hotel bar The Chester, and more.

Wellness on Washington – Follow Richard Cadrouce and Chanel Tyler’s examples and head down to Washington Street to have a day of wellness and self-care. Stop by Kava Cafe for your caffeine fix, Parfums de Marly for a new scent, upgrade your undergarments at Hanro, and Caudalie to get your glow on.

Wine + Dine – Have a martini and pomme frites at Pastis, go old school and visit Manhattan’s Oldest Steakhouse, Old Homestead, or have pizza and wine at fan-favorite Serafina. Check our full list of where to dine here.

Start or end your night right – Head over to Starbucks Roastery Reserve for an Espresso Martini Flight. With flavors like Orange Cacao, Molé Spice, and Cherry Limone infused in it’s a win-win.

The Standard
With sweeping views of Manhattan and the Hudson River, The Standard is the place to get away (and people watch).

Take a walk on the High Line – Enjoy a (socially distanced) walk on the iconic elevated park, the High Line, while taking in the scenic views of the city. Now is the perfect time to experience it since there are no crowds!

Get your caffeine fix – For a small neighborhood, the Meatpacking District is filled with coffee spots to make sure you’re caffeinated throughout the day. From Terremoto, Kava Cafe, Aussie coffee spot Banter, Gasoline Alley, Kobrick, and more, getting a caffeine buzz isn’t hard! If you’re looking for caffeine, coffee-infused cocktails, and food, head over to Kobrick.

Take in some art at the Whitney Museum. If weaving, sewing, or pottery are of any interest to you, be sure to check out Making Knowing: Craft in Art, 1950–2019. This exhibition showcases how visual artists have explored the materials, methods, and strategies of craft. You won’t want to miss Liza Lou’s kitchen in the exhibition. Lou took five years to make a full- scale kitchen encrusted in beads.

Cozy up outside for The Standard’s outdoor movie series Flix in the Forest at The Standard Grill. Sundays through Thursdays at 7 pm. Grab the complimentary popcorn and watch cult classics and fan favorites.
