WINTER OUTING GUIDE
It’s winter and it’s cold. Two facts as New Yorkers that we know all too well. However, that doesn’t mean you should be hibernating all season long. NYC & Company’s new Winter Outing initiative is designed to remind you to get out and enjoy the greatest city in the world – even in the coldest months. So bundle up and enjoy the city instead of Netflix and chilling. Here’s suggestions for what to do in Meatpacking:
Jasper Johns at the Whitney – Warm up with the Whitney Museum for the final days of the Jasper Johns: Mind/Mirror exhibition. Featuring five hundred works of art and seven decades of creativity, this must-see exhibition offers a fresh take on a living legend. Explore paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, and more, from Johns’s iconic flags to lesser-known and recent works. On view until February 13th.
Artechouse – You can always count on Artechouse for a thrilling experience no matter what the season is. On view until January 17th is Machine Hallucination, a returning exhibition created by Refik Anadol. Up next in the experiential space is Trust, a data driven, audiovisual exhibition that elaborates on the multiple meanings and implications of the concept of trust.Trust will open on January 31st, but advance tickets are available for purchase now.
Winter Getaway at the Gansevoort Hotel – Book a winter staycation with the Gansevoort Hotel with the Winter Getaway package. Receive 30% off new rooms + dine al fresco on the hotel’s heated patios. Book now to receive 2 craft cocktails at The Chester and $25 to spend per stay at the European-inspired Coffee + Cocktails café. Plus, receive a complimentary upgrade when booking a Superior or Deluxe room.
Pix on the Plaza – There’s no better place to watch your favorite films than on The Plaza at The Standard, High Line snuggled up under the outdoor heaters complete with cocktails, small bites and popcorn. Peep the full lineup here.
Winter Restaurant Week – NYC Restaurant Week returns from January 18 – February 13 with two-course lunch and three-course dinner options from neighborhood favorites. See what restaurants are participating in Meatpacking.
Winter Walk on the High Line – Sure it’s cold, but it’s also beautiful. Plus, the High Line is a great way to get in your steps for the day. Take a free tour, “From Freight to Flowers”, every Wednesday and Saturday, given by High Line Docents who will offer you an insider’s perspective on the park’s history, design, and landscape.
Visit new places in Meatpacking – The district has some exciting new neighbors. See the full list of all the New in Meatpacking.
Winter facial at Caudalie – Treat your winter skin to a facial at Caudalie to keep glowing through the coldest months.
Happy Hours + Outdoor Seating at Chelsea Market – Chelsea Market has expansive outdoor seating with heated private booths for you to enjoy your market finds safely. Our suggestion to enjoy the market fully in the winter? Happy hour at three market spots: Cull + Pistol, Ayada Thai, and Neighborhood Goods.
Question Party at Common Ground – Every Wednesday night is Question Party at Common Ground. Hosted by comedians Dan Davies and Michael Stauffer, enjoy a fun night combining comedy + trivia.
See a play at Atlantic Theater – The colder months are the best time to catch up on theater in NYC. SHH! written, directed, and featuring Clare Barron opens at Atlantic Theater Stage 2 on January 14th. Tickets are here.
Mocktails – Dry January? No problem. Enjoy an array of alcohol-free options in Meatpacking. See the list here.
Retail Therapy – Take advantage of the winter sales on sales in the neighborhood:
Alice + Olivia – Sidewalk sale in-store only starting on Friday January 14th until Monday January 17th! Customers can shop the sale while taking an additional 25% off their purchase.
Theory – End of season sale with an additional 25% off.
rag + bone – End of season sale with up to 75% off.
