“Makali Ya Jicho Yashinda Wembe” is a Swahili saying that means the sharpness of the eye is greater than the razor. It can be used to describe the instance when collectors, curators, artists, and enthusiasts mutually accept a work of art to be atop the aesthetic judgment scale. These carefully selected works don’t only reveal the transition of art, but also reflect the multifaceted dynamic between both male and female artists of color.
