JJJJJerome Ellis, Celebrating Stuttering Voices

High Line Art and JJJJJerome Ellis are pleased to present Celebrating Stuttering Voices, a site-specific performance of poetry and music centered around Blackness and speech disfluency. Through research of newspaper notices concerning escaped slave people who stuttered, Ellis traces the story of his “spiritual ancestors.” The resulting music/performance gives thanks to those plants and honors these ancestors.
