INSIDE MEATPACKING’S NEW, AFFORDABLE REHEARSAL SPACE

Artists of New York, unite! We are proud to shed light on a new, affordable rehearsal space that has opened in the Meatpacking District. Named the The West Village Rehearsal Co-op, it is located at 60-74 Gansevoort St. and provides 1,500 sq ft of A.D.A.-compliant space.

Thanks to a collaboration between Community Board 2, Aurora Capital, and four theater groups - New Ohio, HERE, Rattlestick and Indispace- the space aims to support the work of 1,500 artists annually and will be programmed 50 weeks a year.

The space will be reserved for Community Board 2-based theater companies for 6 months each year, and available at a subsidized rate of no more than $10 per hour for IndieSpace artists.

IndieSpace is a theater fund dedicated to radically transparent, responsive and equity-focused funding, real estate programs, professional development, and advocacy to individual artists, theater companies, and indie venues. The West Village Rehearsal Co-op will serve as a blueprint for similar artistic venues throughout the city.

And just in case you were worried about a short term commitment, this is a multi-generational collaboration where the lease has been signed for 99 years.
